A few things that are true about me- I love setting goals, writing lists and dreaming about the future.
A few years ago I made my “life list“. I dreamed of all the things in life I wanted to experience and accomplish. I was able to cross a few things off, but realized I wasn’t doing anything to document them. We all have dreams and goals, but in the busyness of life we tend to forget them. So, one day I decided to write my dreams down on paper and document them. What do I want out of life? Where do I want to go? What do I want to see? Simple things like, “Learn how to make sushi” to bigger things like, “Have pizza in Italy” (yes, most of my life goals include food and travel). I knew if I wrote them all down I was less likely to forget. Now, I continually look at my list wide-eyed and think “What can I cross off this year?”. I think of steps I can take to make it happen. I’m a strong believer that if you make your dreams known to the world they’re more likely to come true. If you hoard your dreams and goals in secret, how will they ever find their way to reality? My point in creating this blog is to document the wonderful moments in my life- whether they be “life list” items, travel experiences or thoughts. I want to be able to look back in 20 years and say, “Wow! Look at all the things I’ve done!”. How much greater will these moments be if they are documented? Plus, I feel it will help hold me accountable to live intentionally and not get lost in the busyness of life and forget about my dreams.
I encourage everyone to write out a list of dreams and goals. Make them known to others without fear or hesitation.
Why the “blue door diary”?
The “door” represents opportunity. We all have opportunities in front of us- sometimes they just appear and other times we have to create them ourselves. Either way, we make the choice to enter. “Blue” represents the unknown. The depth of the sea is endless; scary and exciting at the same time.
