A life list item of mine has always been to visit San Francisco and the wine country. I had the great joy of sharing my first trip there last year with my friend Daphne. I was itching to travel, so I emailed her one day and said, “Let’s go somewhere!”. Within a few hours she replied and we got to planning. How convenient it is to have spontaneous friends. We made a list of places we wanted to visit. San Francisco was at the top of both our lists… so off we went! We stayed in Union Square at the Chancelor Hotel. There was no air conditioning in our room, but there was no need. The breeze from the coast coming through our window was all we needed. We drove out to the wine country one day and visited several wineries, my favorites being Cakebread and Robert Mondavi. We ate like queens. We walked about a million miles. The hill inclined streets got the best of me after a long day- my knee was shot! I could barely move and I’m pretty sure I shouted, “My knee caps are broken!!”, but whatever. Being a photographer, it’s only natural to have my camera in hand documenting each moment. Looking back, it’s nice to have these images to remember the cool sunny weather, the delicious food and re-encounter the places we visited. It takes me back to that very day. I can feel the energy of the city all over again.
